"I Only Accept Eyes for You" is a romantic love song by composer Harry Warren and lyricist Al Dubin, written for the film Dames (1934) when Dick Powell introduced information technology.[i] Several successful recordings of the song were fabricated in 1934; after, there were charted versions past The Flamingos (1959) and Art Garfunkel (1975).

The Flamingos version [edit]

The Flamingos recorded a doo-wop adaptation of the vocal in 1958.[2] It was commercially successful, peaking at number 11 on the United states Billboard Hot 100 chart[6] and number iii on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.[7] Their version has since been recognised equally a genre-defining work and has been frequently included in numerous lists; it was ranked equally the 73rd biggest hitting of 1959 by Billboard,[eight] while Rolling Rock magazine ranked the version every bit number 158 on their list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Fourth dimension".[9]

Cliff Richard version [edit]

A recording of the song by Art Garfunkel was a number-one hit on the UK Singles Chart in Oct 1975 for two weeks.[13] In the US, the song reached number eighteen on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100[14] and No. 1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.[15] Garfunkel performed "I Only Have Eyes for You lot" on the second episode of Saturday Night Live.[16]
